Student Council on Community Engagement

Student-led. Community-driven.

The Student Council on Community Engagement brings together medical students dedicated to fostering community partnerships, advancing student support, and making the college a more inclusive and connected space.

What We Do:
 

  • Create a welcoming and supportive learning environment

  • Promote community-responsive care in the curriculum

  • Advise the administration on student experience & wellness

  • Support recruitment and retention of mission-aligned faculty/staff

  • Develop mentoring networks that uplift all students

  • Partner with community orgs to address real-world health challenges

  • Members meet once a month to discuss priorities, share updates and identify opportunities for collaboration

Aequitas Health Honors Society

Aequitas is a national honor society dedicated to identifying, recognizing and developing future physician leaders committed to improving the health of their communities.

At the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson, we are proud to participate in this national initiative. This year, we are celebrating the fourth cohort of Aequitas Student Fellows from the Class of 2026 and welcoming our second Aequitas Faculty Fellow.

Bilingual Medical Spanish Distinction Track

Bilingual Medical Spanish Distinction Track

A four-year longitudinal program for medical students with intermediate to advanced Spanish proficiency, focused on strengthening medical Spanish communication, cultural responsiveness and core clinical competencies.

This funding opportunity is designed to support programs that celebrate culture, build community and create shared learning experiences for College of Medicine – Tucson students. We believe in the power of student leadership and collaboration, and we’re here to help make your ideas possible.

About This Funding

Student groups may request financial support to fund events and initiatives that foster connection, belonging, professional growth and collective learning within the college community.

Funding may be used to support:

  • Student-led workshops or trainings focused on leadership, advocacy, health equity or other areas of shared interest.
  • Community-building activities that strengthen relationships and foster a sense of belonging.
  • Retreats, planning sessions, or skill-building events that support group sustainability and capacity.
  • Collaborative events developed in partnership with other student groups, offices or departments.
  • Guest speakers or facilitators who support student learning and professional development.
  • Costs related to room reservations, event logistics, and the coordination of campus spaces to increase accessibility and ease of planning

Before You Apply

Please review the following before submitting your request:

  1. Applications must be submitted at least three (3) months in advance of the proposed event or initiative.
  2. Requests are reviewed on the third Friday of each month.
  3. Funding decisions are shared within 5–7 business days following each review date.

We encourage groups to plan early to ensure sufficient time for review, coordination, and successful implementation.
